A funny thing happened on the way to ......

Going back a couple of days, these were our companions in Assilah, where we spent most of the time trying to access the Internet. Moving on to the here and now, and you may remember how much we enjoyed Moulay Bousselem on our previous visit. Well a funny thing happened on the way to the showers yesterday. What you have to remember is that there is a degree of simplicity in all that is constructed, so to keep rooms shady, there are few windows. As we entered the showers ,under cover of extreme gloom, neither of us could locate the taps. After suggestions had been tossed around, a French lady came to our rescue, and with much laughter, told us we were in the squatting toilets!! Hence the picture below. But when it comes to our language skills, then our schoolgirl French and Sue's bit of German, get us by, so as far as fresh water is concerned, ours comes from a bottle.

The state of the hook up electrics hasn't improved greatly but at least we got a point with a newly wired plug socket, even though it hangs precariously from the, I find it difficult to refer to it, as a junction box!!
Today, we are spending time in the shade of the tree to which our washing line is fastened, having discovered, albeit too late, that we had turned a very bright lobster pink overnight.

Several days in one

Sorry we have been "dark" but the wifi has been a little problematic. But hey, we are now here in sunny Morocco with sea, sun and fresh fish on the doorstep.
Crossed from Algeciras to Tanger a couple of days ago and once again the dolphins failed to materialise in the Straits of Gibralter. We then drove straight to Assilah and a parking spot which we know, and spent the night with other travellers and camels while we tracked down a Pay as you go 3G sim from Maroc Telecom. We did a lot of walking up and down the streets, to such an extent that we became familiar to the locals, who may have thought that we were touting for business!!
Eventually, after being fleeced of a couple of pounds by a "jack the lad" who took us to an IT technician, who in turn sent us to a teleboutique to buy a SIM card, because the one we had was past it's sell by date, we finally are up and running.
A special town from our last visit beckoned, so we drove to the lagoon at Moulay Bousselem and are parked up a few metres from the waters edge. The fishing boats have just swept through the gap in the sand bar and the men are now busy selling their catch on the beach.
There are still plenty of French campers in Morocco, many of whom are coming to the end of their warm winter in the North African sun and are a few days from catching a ferry home, whereas we are only just starting our trip and have it all to look forward to.

Seville in the sunshine

Today we have been real tourists, having decided that the best way to see as much as possible of Seville, was to have a sightseeing tour on the top deck of an open topped bus.
There are a few pictures below but to be truthful, most of what we saw were apartment blocks rather than ancient buildings.

The Cathedral was magnificent and the old Royal Palace was impressive but we took most pleasure from the narrow streets of the old town, a tapas lunch in a shady square, accompanied by several glasses of the white stuff, and the atmospheric music of the flamenco! We have now returned to Camping Villasom, and are now basking in the heat of this Sunday afternoon. The shorts are on and so is the sun tan cream!!
And here in 30C, we have genuine Seville Oranges.
